Sometimes the Holy Spirit works in very interesting ways.
I have been inspired to begin a new program here at On the Horizon: Guest blogging.
I was “convicted” to offer this opportunity to other writers because of a recent experience with another blogger. I will post more about that within the next few days but this is essentially what happened: We disagreed. That’s not unusual. Christians disagree routinely about core beliefs, not to mention faith practices.
But this is how the Holy Spirit used that circumstance to tell me that I should offer other writers a platform here: I posted a comment on her blog which was very respectful, but honest. And she deleted it. Worse, she picked a couple of sentences from my deleted comment — taken out of context — and posted only those, along with her own opinions and viewpoints. Worse still, even though she deleted my comment, thereby denying her readers the opportunity to assess my words and reach their own conclusions, she judged me. Not just my actions. Not just my opinions. But my very status as a Christian.
And at that moment, I once again heard the Holy Spirit saying, “You’ve just been given yet another opportunity to use evil to do good.”
Here are my “Guest Bloggers on the Horizon” program rules:
1. Submit a post on any topic of interest to spiritual seekers.
2. You do not have to be a Christian — I encourage persons from all different faith perspectives to participate. Radical inclusivity is the standard here, of course.
3. Your submission can be drafted specifically for inclusion here or be an article that you wrote and published on your own blog.
4. No profanity.
5. No judgment or derision of other human beings, their beliefs or opinions. No ad hominem attacks. I encourage healthy, vigorous debate, but it must be “Christ-like,” i.e. reasoned and respectful.
6. Guest posts will be published as received, rather than on any specific day of the week, although I may choose a particular day if the post in question coincides with, for instance, a meme theme or prompt, holiday or current event(s).
So if you would like to be a guest blogger here at “On the Horizon” or have questions, send me an e-mail: hopefulspirit at comcast dot net. Along with your article, provide a brief biography or link to your profile, as well as the link to and title of your blog.
My hope is that this program will not only provide my readers with interesting, insightful articles, but also allow them to discover other blogs that are worthy of their readership.

Welcome back to On the Horizon! So glad you’re visiting again. Be sure to leave a comment and add any posts that you like to the various social bookmarking sites using the links just below the posts. Thanks for stopping by!
