Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever.
Psalm 107:1
Hard to believe that it is Thursday again already. Must time pass so quickly?
Tonight we need to hold up in prayers our neighbors in the South Lake Tahoe region who have been impacted by the Angora fire. I can’t imagine what it would be like to run from my house with only the clothes on my back and come back to find it gone. This is a sad situation that takes place too often here in California, at one end of the state or another. Getting all residents safely evacuated and preventing injuries is the priority, as is keeping the firefighters safe. A home can be rebuilt, but I’m sure that many precious heirlooms and keepsakes have been destroyed and that must bring enormous sorrow to those impacted.
I am thankful to be writing this in my comfortable home with the windows open and a lovely breeze wafting in. I love summer nights, especially Friday and Saturday evenings when I don’t have to worry about getting to bed by a certain time and can enjoy these long, refreshing evenings, especially if it was a hot afternoon. We are blessed that most nights are cool enough to be restful.
I am thankful to earn my daily bread doing work that I consider important and necessary so that at the end of the day I can feel satisfied with my efforts, even if I am extremely tired (as I am this evening because I was running all day).
I’m grateful for a weekend looming ahead with precious few plans which will allow me to relax, get some extra sleep, catch up on some chores around the house, read a book or two, spend some time in and by the pool, and … who knows what else?
Blessings to you for a safe and peaceful weekend.

Thank you for thinking of those who are affected by the fires. You have a spirit filled heart.
Thanks for this prayer reminder. Here in Connecticut we seem to escape the hardest challenges that the weather can bring. It’s hard to imagine these nightmares others’ experience, but we can pray and be ready to help. Thanks again.
