The Seventh Day: Fourth Edition

by Hopeful Spirit on Sunday, January 20, 2008

On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation.

Genesis 2:2–3

Self-Improvement / Relationships

Albert Foong presents The life that has gone on before: The Perils of Compassion, Part 2 from Urban Monk.

Todd Goldfarb shares Healing From The Inside Out– A Remedy To Save The World from We The Change, a discussion about how healing from the inside out permeates our lives and society.

Spirituality / Belief

GP shares Lessons from Horse Play from Innside Montana — Your Home at the Range, an article about the life lessons we can learn from horseplay.

Sunny also shares John 1: 1–4 In the beginning Jesus from Observation and Principles. She discusses John 1:1–4 which tells us who Jesus was at creation. She observes that John’s Gospel is “the story of Him ‘who was, and is, and is to come.’”

Dan King shares Lift Him Up from Management By God, saying, “How important is it to bring spirituality in the workplace? Take a look at what one Proverb says, and learn the benefits of lifting up God at work.”

Laura shares Call Foul or Pray? « Children & Chocolate and Other Paths to God from BeutlerBlogger.

And it is on the 7th day that God expects us to visit Him in His temple and praise His name. God only asks for a few hours of our time on this one day, He expects us and yet we do not come.

Tess: I’m not sure what point you are trying to make. Obviously, you are here reading my entries on Sunday morning, so you are not in a church or temple (I presume . . . unless you’re posting from a mobile device).

One does not need to go to a specific building or location to worship. I have not set foot inside a church building in more than a year and have never been happier or had a more full, complete and inspiring worship life.

Thanks for dropping by. Hope you enjoyed some of the entries in this week’s Carnival!

 I remember that my father ran a restaurant in a small town in the south during the times of Dr Kings leadership.
He saw the injustice of discrimination.
That whites and blacks had to use different bathrooms.
That we were not allowed to use the same drinking fountains.
That blacks had to eat in the back rooms of restaurants.
And GOD HELP YOU IF YOU WERE CAUGHT SOCIALIZING WITH SOMEONE OF ANOTHER RACE.
I remember Bull Conners , and the dogs siced on the protest march across the bridge.
I remember Dr King speaking that everything must be done with LOVE REPLACING HATE AND RESENTMENT.
I remember going to a movie to see it, and finding a protest demonstration going on there (and going to the movie with a bunch of new friends I’d not met before because they lived on the other side of the railroad tracks)
I remember some childhood friends become “stand offish” because they (and their parents) had seen us there.
I remember the pride I felt in my Father when he told the family (with my southern mother by his side),
that we would probably soon go out of business, because he had decided to do what he felt was right and serve everyone in the front of the restaurant. no matter the result.
We served everyone, the whites (mostly)quit coming in to eat there.
There really was not enough black folks who could afford to eat out enough to support the family (11 kids) We lost the restaurant, our home and my inheritance.
But I’ll never forget the pride I felt in my father for doing the right thing at that time.
I say GOD bless Dr King. And all his family. forever!
