The Simple Woman’s Daybook: April 27, 2009

by Hopeful Spirit on Monday, April 27, 2009

Outside my window … the sun is shining, but the wind is blowing and it is only 47 degrees! The weather forecaster says the temperature will not even reach 70 degrees, describing our weather patterns as a “rollercoaster.”

I am thinking … about how cold it is in comparison to this time last week when we had temperatures in the 90’s.

I am thankful for … home and shelter from the wild weather variations.

From the kitchen … the smell of coffee brewing is enticing me to take a break from writing and go pour myself a cup.

I am wearing … a cotton nightgown that is too thin to keep me warm on this cold morning.

I am reading … MckMama’s last post about her sweet baby boy, Stellan. So happy to hear that his condition has stabilized over the past couple of days! Praying it remains so!

I am hoping … that I have minimal interruptions at work today so that I can get a lot of tasks completed.

I am creating … an atmosphere of calm, peacefulness, and tranquility around me so that I can get into a “zone” that is most conducive to productivity.

I am praying … that the will of the Divine Creator be done in all situations.

Around the house … all is quiet. I am the only one who is awake.

One of my favorite things … is being the only one awake so that I can enjoy some quiet time in my home before leaving for work.

A few plans for the rest of the week … a brief trip out of town for business, a couple of appointments with doctors for routine check-ups and, hopefully, lots of items checked off my “to do” list.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you, urging you to pray not just for Stellan, but for all hospitalized children, their families, and their physicians and caregivers that they be given wisdom and the gift of healing:

Prayers for Stellan

Quiet time in the mornings before anyone else is up is definitely one of my favorites, too!

I have only become a morning person because of work. Other wise I am a diehard night owl. My favorite time is between midnight and 2 am. The silence, oh…it just seeps lovingly into my veins. The night sky full of millions of crystal Christmas lights. My soul is renewed to face whatever is ahead.
Prayers for all that are in despair…and all who have yet to experience the peacefulness each day begins and ends with.

I am not a woman so I can’t feel the exact what the feel at different times but I really enjoy that silent and quiet time in morning.
@Annie, diehard night owl is just a feeling for me because I felt that too much in all my life. I love to sleep at night now and to wake up early in the morning.

Let’s all pray for little children. When I see tragedy like this one I always forget about my little problems.

I’ve noticed that when I meditate for 10 minutes before getting to work, I am much more productive than when I don’t. Meditation has improved my focus and my efficiency greatly. Have you ever tried it?

I’ve also been trying to wake up 10 minutes earlier each day so I can take advantage of the mornings when the house is most quiet! Its a good technique because that way your body doesn’t resent you very much when you’re getting out of bed!

I’m more productive in the evening and early morning — but the coffee definately helps. I also find (like I read in someone elses comment) a quick meditation (even a standing meditation) helps me focus on what I need to do rather than want to do! and also relaxes me
