Today I am participating in Sunday Citar for the first time. It is a weekly meme hosted by Tabitha in which participants share a favorite quote.
Until recently, my tag line here was a quote from Dag Hammerskjöld, who served as the U.N. Secretary-General from 1953 until his tragic death in 1961. President John F. Kennedy called him “the greatest statesman of our century” and he remains the only person to have received a Nobel Peace Prize posthumously. After his death, his diary was published. Therein, he described himself as a Christian mystic who viewed his diplomatic endeavors as an “inner journey.” Hammerskjöld said:
Never look down to test the ground before taking your next step;
only he who keeps his eye fixed on the far horizon will find the right road.

Very profound and very true (unless you are walking on a cliff edge!) but I think having a quote that you like and having a set of ideals that you live by can be two different things – its much harder to remind to yourself of it in everday life.

I agree with this quote and the picture is awesome – however its also important to ensure that goal is not selfish and you look down to consider the views/emotions of others as well as your own path
