Sunday Citar

by Hopeful Spirit on Sunday, July 12, 2009

Today I am participating in Sunday Citar for the first time. It is a weekly meme hosted by Tabitha in which participants share a favorite quote.

Until recently, my tag line here was a quote from Dag Hammerskjöld, who served as the U.N. Secretary-General from 1953 until his tragic death in 1961. President John F. Kennedy called him “the greatest statesman of our century” and he remains the only person to have received a Nobel Peace Prize posthumously. After his death, his diary was published. Therein, he described himself as a Christian mystic who viewed his diplomatic endeavors as an “inner journey.” Hammerskjöld said:

Never look down to test the ground before taking your next step;
only he who keeps his eye fixed on the far horizon will find the right road.

:shock: Writing so much beautiful posts is not so easy and i know that many people appreciate you writing skills. You write unimaginably well as you tend to touch peoples emotions. ;-)

Very profound and very true (unless you are walking on a cliff edge!) but I think having a quote that you like and having a set of ideals that you live by can be two different things — its much harder to remind to yourself of it in everday life.

Grand Canyon link image is broken. The image here has only 800×600 size. I love it, I want it on full resolution. Can you fix it?
Thanks a lot! :P

I just went to http://www.morguefile.com and the entire site is down. There is a message saying that they are having technical difficulties. Since the whole site is down, the links to individual images will not work, either, so there is no other link I can provide you. Just check again when the site returns to functionality and, hopefully, the link to that page will work then.

doesn’t that picture just make you want to pack away the computer, fill a rusksack with some treats, get the hiking boots on and get outside and enjoy the fresh air! My computer is going off.…now!

27 Anonymous Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 7:39 am

This quote and especially the picture just makes you want to get outside and enjoy the fresh air! i’m off to do that right now — thanks!

28 Anonymous Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 11:14 am

I agree with this quote and the picture is awesome — however its also important to ensure that goal is not selfish and you look down to consider the views/emotions of others as well as your own path
