The Simple Woman’s Daybook: March 5, 2010

Out­side my win­dow … the sun is shin­ing brightly which is a delight­ful change from the heavy rains we received ear­lier in the week. I am look­ing at the beau­ti­ful flow­ers that are bloom­ing in my yard, includ­ing red roses. They are stunning.

I am think­ing … about what a lovely day it is. The lawns, leaves on the trees, and hill­sides are a vibrant green from all of the recent rain. I am see­ing the world in technicolor!

I am thank­ful for … a day off from work which I am using to com­plete house­hold chores like laun­dry and shop­ping for groceries.

I am wear­ing … shorts and a big, baggy, com­fort­able sweat­shirt. I have sev­eral doors and win­dows open, even though it is only about 60 degrees out­side. The weather is too lovely, the air too cool and refresh­ing to miss this oppor­tu­nity to get some fresh air into the house. It has been closed up with the fur­nace churn­ing away for sev­eral months now.

I am remem­ber­ing … how much, as a child, I loved these days when we were poised on the precipice of spring. I vividly recall the joy of being able to remain out­side play­ing ball, rid­ing bikes, and gen­er­ally hav­ing fun with my neigh­bor­hood pals as the weather warmed and the days grad­u­ally grew longer.

I am going … to remain at home for the remain­der of the day, savor­ing this beau­ti­ful, peace­ful, yet pro­duc­tive day.

I am cur­rently read­ing … a wide vari­ety of blogs.

I am hop­ing … that this gor­geous weather holds through the week­end. Let it rain again when it’s time to return to work!

On my mind … are the var­i­ous tasks that I want to com­plete today so that I can sleep well tonight with a solid sense of accomplish.

Notic­ing that … the trees across the street from my house are loaded with lovely pink blos­soms, a few of which gen­tly float through the air each time a car passes by.

From the kitchen … no smells are ema­nat­ing yet. The dishes are clean and still in the dish­washer. The coun­ters and stove­top are spot­less. I am going to cook din­ner later, so all is ready.

Around the house … every room is flooded with light and fresh air. It is delightful.

One of my favorite things … is spend­ing a day off just as I am this one.
